About Jessie
Hello to my fellow dog lovers, thank you for checking me out. My name is Jessie and so nice to meet you. Let me share with you some information about myself. I am a dog lover and have loved dogs all my life. At every stage of my life, I would have wanted to own dogs and whenever I have dogs of my own, I like spending as much time with them as I can and miss them whenever we are not together. During my earlier childhood days, I never was allowed to keep any dogs, partly because none of my family members are dog lovers. It was only until my teenage years that I was allowed to keep them. Whether I have dogs of my own or not, it brings me joy to see them wherever I go. At times, I would ask if I am allowed to pat other peoples’ dogs if I see them when I am out. Since my teenage years, I have kept dogs but the real responsibility only commenced after I started having my own place. I also experienced the challenging aspects of caring with alot more effort after my dogs developed serious health conditions like acute kidney disease (failure), heart issues and cancer. During all those times, I had been the sole carer. Things had been really difficult for me because I pushed myself very hard to do everything possible to enhance recovery, I would prepare only fresh food consisting of meat with a wide variety of mixed vegetable puree as part of their diet as I did not want my dogs to consume food with preservatives and also to ensure a more balanced diet. I added supplements just to be more certain they are not lacking in nutrients. I figured that will keep them as healthy as possible for the longest possible duration. It helped tremendously that after major health issues commenced, I have been in a job that allows for a fair bit of flexibility and this enables me to focus on my dogs’ needs whenever required. For many years, I have kept 2 dogs, the reason is so that they will always not need to feel lonely. I would also spend as much of my free time at home just being with them and loving them.
Now, I am left with one dog, my older one recently passed on due to cancer. I have gotten a helper after my girl left us, just so that there will always be someone who can be there for my younger dog to take care of him and so that there is always someone to keep him company. The criteria for selecting my helper is someone who loves dogs as I wanted someone who can be dedicated to their welfare.
My boy is a very sociable and affectionate dog. He loves dogs and I will not deny one of the reasons why I am keen to have dogs over is because it makes us happier. It is a joy that I have always felt when my girl was still around as I watch them play and interact. Ever since her passing, it somehow did not feel whole for me and my dog anymore. I could no longer get another dog of my own as the financial responsibilities is not something I can bear in the event of any major illness as it costs thousands to get the best treatments each time. Of course my other reason is that I discovered during my time of difficulties where I needed a helping hand, it was hard to get someone who could render care for my dog(s) with sincerity, maybe I have just not been lucky in my search. I wanted and hope to be someone who can be available when there are others who need help. Now that I no longer live on my own, I realised this is something that is feasible.
I live in a HDB apartment in Bishan with solar heat reflectors fitted onto my windows to reflect over 80% of heat and I will have the ceiling fan turned on most of the time unless it is a cool day in which case, I may not turn it on as much. It is a fairly comfortable place to stay in. I use the air conditioner at night in my bedroom. All dogs are welcome to stay in my bedroom and may sleep with me on the bed if they are used to that. My home is very near Bishan park, just a few minutes walk and the dogs will be brought out 4 times a day but the main walk will be in the evenings at the park when it is cooler. Day bring downs are shorter as this is mainly to let them ease themselves.
During the time your dog(s) are with me, food preparation, supplements and medication may be prepared and fed according to your requirements because to me, this is part and parcel of caring for our loved ones appropriately. I do have a few requests and that is for your dog(s) to be free from contagious diseases, free from ticks and fleas, does not mark or pee on the floor nor furniture, non-aggressive in nature (gets along with other dogs), do not bite furniture/furnishings and not the type that barks a lot (some of my neighbours dislike dogs and will not hesitate to file a complaint). These are important for safety reasons mainly, and to be fair to everyone and every dog.
It would be ideal to have a meet and greet session especially if your dog(s) is/areboarding overnight. That way, you can also get a feel of what it is like for your dog(s) to stay over at my home. In addition, it will be great if you can decide whether to proceed with a booking shortly thereafter so that I know how to respond to others who contact me for the same period.
I am sorry that I don't have many photos taken with my dogs although I have many photos of my dogs, this is because I live by myself, only until recently. I am also not someone who takes photos regularly and in fact, seldom take them. The photo where I am have my dog in my arms resting on me is the one where I had taken with my girl close to her demise. I just wanted to have at least 1 photo with her and so, I did a few selfies with her. I think this is it. I hope I have shared sufficient information but please do not hesitate to ask for more details and share your concerns if any.
