While I was studying in Australia, I signed to petsit/ housesit and have gained alot of experience from it. For some people, the idea of being responsible for anothers pet might be daunting. I was no exception, but when i started my first assignment, all fear vanished. I had an amazing time taking care of thier pet as well as their house. They were very happy with the service and called me back again the seocnd time. They even allowed me to drop by to visit him sherlock- a goodle (golden retriever and poodle mix) when i wanted to and if they were home. On my second housesit, I took care of arnie (in the last picture), a big tough dog he was. He was also very attached to his owner and that was going to be the first time she was leaving him alone. She was very stressed about leaving him and i reassured her that everything would be fine. Arnie alos had just gone through a slip disc surgery from his back and was recovering well. When she had left, I made sure to make Arnie very confortable and happy- playing with him and constantly keeping him company to the extent where he felt comfortable enough to hop onto my bed and cuddle with me. I also told Arnie's owner that i would be happy to skype/ talk to her everyday to keep her updated. About 5 days later, Arnie's 'mummy' came back and was relived and extremely thankful that he had been well taken care. it really warmed my heart to see how happy she was. She said that she would ask for me to petsit arnie if she ever went away again. Despite having never taken care of cats, I was asked if i wanted to try twice, and I gladly took up both assignments. It went smoothly as well. I played with the cats- when they were home and in the mood to play :p In one of the pictures I have a greyhound on my lap. My sisters have fostered and then adopted 2 greyhounds in Australia- where they work. These greyhounds urgently had to find homes or they wouldve had to be put down as greyhound racing is being banned in australia. It has been a joy taking them in and altough it certainly took some time for them to settle in, they are now in a happy home and are well taken care of :) I absolutely adore animals, be it dogs or cats or horses. I will do whatever it takes to ensure they are comfortable espeically at a time when their owners are away for a period of time. Animals are attached to their owners. therefore, it is very important to take care of them well and pay attention to them when they are not around- and that is exactly what I do :) Since I started petsitting with Pawshake, I have had the pleasure of taking care of many dogs/ puppies and cats. it has been extremely enjoyeable and I plan on continuing for as long as I can. A little more about myself: I have finished my degree and am taking a gap year before furthering my studies. I therefore have alot of free time at the moment. I live with my Parents, Ruffles (our shih tzu ) and our helper. All of us are ardent animal lovers and have grown up with dogs and other animals (hamsters/ rabbits etc.) thorughout our lives. When you dog boards with us, he/she will be under 24/7 care. There will always be someone at home caring for them (mostly myself). I will bring them down for walks 3 times a day (once in the morning, evening and night). If needed, I am happy to take them down more than the three times. If I am booked for a house visit/ dog walking, I do not go by the hour. If I do have anything planned on that day, the minimum I will be staying is an hour to an hour and a half and on days that I am free, I am happy to stay much longer and keep your pet company, with your permission. I will be more than happy to stay for 3-4 hours and have done so many times before during a house visit. The most important thing to me is that the pet is happy and content. Staying over in other people's house: I have had alot of experience with stayig over at someone else's house and taking care of their pets. Before I leave, I ensure that home owners come back home to a clean house and a happy pet! Moreover, while im doing any pet sitting/ visiting/ walking, I will update owners constantly with pictures and videos. I am also more than happy to video call owners who miss their pets and want see them. At the end of the day, the most important thing to me is the satisfaction and happiness of not just your pet, but you as pet parents as well.
