Motivation

Love animals but avoided keeping pets as an adult because I felt bad that that they would be home alone most of the time. Recently quit a 15 year job & decided to take a break and care for animals whenever I can. 

❗️UPDATE (JULY): Currently trying out a new job weekdays 10am-6pm but arrangements can be discussed :) hours are generally flexible if there's nothing urgent/sufficient manpower and prior notice given!

Joined Pawshake after my 9 year old rabbit passed away (2024) & returned a 13 year old Shih Tzu after 8 months (till February 2025) as her owner was expecting a child & needed some help. 

Previous Experience

PETS: None at the moment

DOGS: experience dog sitting the 13 year old Shih Tzu & occasionally a 17 year old Maltese whose owner travels for work

RABBITS: fostered/rehomed 3 rabbits over a span of 1-2 years. Ended up keeping an aggressive male for 9 years till he passed in 2024. 

GROOMING: learnt through experience about rabbit behaviour & grooming animals in general too (thanks to a chinchilla pet shop groomer who always gave tips on basic pet grooming maintenance). I regularly help with basic grooming for dogs for family/friends over the last decade as a passion but never on a professional/paid basis.

OTHER ANIMALS: Picking the occasional injured bird & entertaining the neighbourhood or coffeeshop cats whenever I see them.

❤️ Gradually developed a passion for trying to understand what animals enjoy, ensuring basic needs & basic grooming hygiene requirements are fulfilled. 

❤️ From careful inspection (some say "KPO") and observation of pets from friends, neighbours (and occasional strangers), I enjoy working with owners towards finding a better quality of life for their fur kids, if they don't mind!

Do you only take vaccinated pets into your home?

Not really strict about it, but would appreciate knowing if pet is unwell, has wounds or was a stray that didn't have any prior medical checks before that. 

❤️ Would prefer smaller dogs, but willing to take in bigger dogs if they are calmer in nature

Services: What is specifically included in the services you offer? Can you offer any training or grooming?

Don't have any professional training or services to offer, but if owners wants help to figure out pet behaviour / grooming / dental issues etc I'm happy to try if owner does not mind. No charges, but will appreciate feedback and accept tips from owners. 

❤️ don't have a car, but if happy to help if owner willing to sponsor the round trip fees for pick up & drop off

Can you administer medication to pets? 

Tried a few times with the 17yo Maltese (quite the struggler with oral meds), but won't say I'm proficient. Am willing to try if necessary, and if owners are reasonable & willing to explain the requirements.

How many dogs will you board at the same time?

Preferably from a single family. But open to discuss if the dogs are not too high energy and are ok with each other!

How long are your dog walks?

Platform guideline of minimum 30 min is reasonable for the service. Although I am a plant and animal person, so it's not uncommon for my walks to get side tracked if the schedule is open.

How many dog walks do you offer per day?

Twice! Since I like to encourage pets to do their business outdoors, will happily bring them downstairs to & stretch their legs when possible!

Time you can spend with pets How does pet care fit into your daily or weekly routine? What is your availability like? Do you work from home or do you need to leave the house for work? Can you supervise guest pets 24/7?

Only for work on weekdays from 10am-6pm

Who else lives in your home? Any family members, roommates or pets? Where are the guest pets allowed to sleep? If you have a backyard, what is it like? Is it fully fenced? Are your gates safe and secured?

The small apartment complex consists of 30 units & most neighbours know me to be with animals hanging out at the ground floor doing gardening while the dog(s) roam around the fenced up complex. 

No pets other than fishes and plants, and staying a partner who works office hours. Am open to owner requests on sleeping/eating arrangements. But no rules on where the pets go as long as their feet and bums have been cleaned!
