About Ruby
I offer a calm, home-based boarding experience in my quiet 4-room HDB by the waterway. My home is intentionally kept peaceful and structured, making it best suited for pets who are comfortable in a low-stimulation environment. I live in a serene neighbourhood with easy access to pet-friendly paths and a scenic river walk, which I use for regular walks and gentle enrichment. There is also a pet-friendly café nearby that I may visit with pets who are comfortable with outings.
Boarding in my home is flexible and tailored to each pet’s usual routine, with the aim of helping them settle comfortably and feel secure. Where appropriate, pets in my care go for two walks daily along the river, providing regular exercise, fresh air, and time to decompress. I limit the number of pets I care for at any one time to ensure each receives adequate attention, supervision, and rest.
I am 28 and work in the social service sector, and I am able to make arrangements at work so pets are not left unsupervised for long hours. I have been a dog owner for the past 11 years and a cat owner for the past 6 years. I have experience fostering and boarding Singapore Specials, Japanese Spitz, Shelties, and other similar breeds.
I am also an experienced animal shelter volunteer and a former dog rescuer and rehomer. This has given me exposure to pets with different personalities and temperaments, but I am mindful that not every environment suits every pet. My home is best suited for pets who can cope with a quieter home setting, and I take a fit-based approach to boarding. If I feel that a pet’s needs may be better supported in a different environment, I will communicate this openly and early, as my priority is always the wellbeing and safety of both the pet and the household.
For stays longer than three nights, I require a one-night stay trial beforehand. This allows pets to familiarise themselves with the environment and routine, and helps ensure the boarding arrangement is a comfortable and suitable fit. My goal is to provide thoughtful, attentive care in a setting where pets can truly feel safe, settled, and respected.
FAQ:
Are anxious or high-energy pets suitable?
I am happy to care for pets with mild anxiety or higher energy levels if they are manageable in a home setting. However, pets with severe separation anxiety, frequent escape attempts, or behaviours that may pose safety risks may be better supported in a different environment. I take a fit-based approach and will communicate honestly if I feel another arrangement may be more suitable.
What happens if my pet is not settling well?
Your pet’s wellbeing is my priority. If I feel that my home is not the best fit, I will communicate openly and early to discuss alternative arrangements that may better support your pet.
Do you accommodate special diets or medication?
Yes, I am happy to follow dietary requirements and administer medication as long as clear instructions and supplies are provided.
Do you accept last-minute or emergency boarding?
Last-minute requests may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on suitability and availability.
