Hello! I've been a pet owner for most of my adult life and am looking for a dog or cat to care for :)

My experience with dogs:

I have had experience with caring for rescue dogs through their ages of 2 to 17 human years old. As the dogs I've cared for suffered from a few ailments, I am familiar with administering oral medications, skin ointments, eye drops, and ear drops, if needed.

I believe in loose leash walks, no shouting (but yes to firm commands), and no physical lashings. If allowed, I like giving skinless apples as an afternoon treat.

Dogs should be allowed to be dogs! I aim to provide an environment where they can rest comfortably in their beds for their needed 12 hours of sleep without feeling anxious. Dog walks will be focussed on them relieving themselves, and allowing them to sniff around and explore.

My experience with cats:

Started caring for cats after a number of Pawshake home visits for cats. I'm experienced with scooping and changing kitty litter, and also playing with them using toys. Cats tend to warm up to me quickly and would try to get a few rubs from me lol.

Lost my family pet in 2022 after more than fifteen wonderful years together. She was a timid Jack Russell rescue with big playful energy once you got to know her. Being characteristically territorial, she did not get along well with most dogs so I would divert her attention during walks sometimes. As she aged, her eyesight grew poor and that's when we had to start medications and carrying her during some parts of her walk.

I've been dogsitting for my sister whenever she travelled for the past seven years or so. He is also a rescue, a Daschsund, and has the silliest quirks. Extremely skittish, he does not like sudden sounds or surprises, and does not like being touched too. He does not particularly enjoy walks, so leashing him for walks was initially a challenge but we managed to have nice walks after much coaxing! He has skin and heart conditions so medications (oral pills and skin ointments) were administered daily during my care.
