About Siew May
About Me:
I'm Siew May and I love dogs. My husband and I bought our first dog, Kyra and shortly after, also adopted Bell. They are both female shibas. We also have 2 kids who grew up with them. There's never a dull moment at home.
Why I do this:
When I first got Kyra as a puppy and needed a boarder, she got rejected at many boarding places for being too "hyper". I refused to send her to a caged boarding place because she would have felt so trapped. Luckily, I met a sitter who was thankfully very understanding and tolerated her energy levels. I was super grateful.
I know first hand how it feels having to worry about whether your dog is in good hands and whether he/she can be themselves when at a foreign place. So I wanted to extend help for pet owners who feel like they always need to surpress their dogs habits just so that a boarder will accept them.
Not here.
To me, dog will be dogs. They are times that they will bark / jump / chase / "destroy" / hump things. It's normal. We just need to understand why and only correct if needed. As such, I don't take more than one booking at a time unless your pet is very seasoned with me.
Please also expect that I would be asking you a whole bunch of questions about your pet so that I can provide the best care and if the boarding duration is more than 2-3 days, I'd really recommend we meet up first so that both you and your pet can familiarize / ask me questions.
About my Shibas:
Both of them are pretty tiny for a normal Shiba and they are both particularly affectionate for their breed. They are stubborn but very toy/treat motivated. They tolerate the walks but hate wet surfaces. They rarely bark and are selective with which dogs they like, which is why it is important for us to do a meet and great to ascertain chemistry.
For everyone's safety, I won't be taking bookings if our dogs don't get along.
About our home:
We live in a 3 bedroom condo of over 1,500 sqft. Our place has 2 balconies that the puppers have access to. They are free to roam anywhere except at places that are dangerous for them, e.g. toilets, kitchen counter tops etc. There's always someone home and my place has 24hr CCTV. I have more than enough toys, pet supplies, spares for almost everything so your pet is welcome to borrow them (saves you the trouble of bringing!). My dogs will only pee outside so our condo areas have both grass and pavement route options. It's also a walkable distance to Labrador Park.
My dogs sleep with me on the bed and sometimes prefer their floor beds. Your pet is welcomed to do the same.
We have a car and incase of emergencies, would be able to rush to the vet.
