Hi everyone!
I'm Saranya and I’m an experienced boarder having been in the industry for more than 8 years, starting my journey on Pawshake in 2015.
I belong to a family of five (my parents, two brothers and myself). All of us LOVE animals especially, dogs! We do this collectively as a family so rest assured that your baby is in good hands :)
We have a lot of experience in boarding and handling all types of dogs - various breeds, sizes and different types of behaviors. We are also adept with first-time boarders.
In our 8 years as pet sitters, my family and I have boarded 100+ dogs and counting. Therefore, we are very skilled and knowledgeable.
Where we live: We stay in a large Executive flat in Sengkang. It is very spacious with a lot of room for your dogs to run and walk around freely. We have Italian marbled tiles throughout our living room which our fur guests love to sleep on because it is always cold.
Most importantly, we are a CAGE-FREE home! There is a park nearby which is very pet-friendly. We always bring our fur guests for walks at the park in the mornings and evenings. It is a wonderful place to walk them as there are dedicated tracks and is very nature-centric.
Some important things to note:
1) MEET AND GREET: We strongly encourage meet and greets at our place for first-time clients (especially long-stays). The meeting is great for us to get acquainted and for your dog to familiarize itself with my home. It would also be good for us to understand your dog, its behaviours and assess suitability. Please note that we only do Meet & Greets during weekends.
2) BOOKINGS: After our meet and greet, we'd recommend making a booking asap to secure your dates. A meet and greet does not guarantee a confirmed slot. We hope you can understand that we cannot verbally hold off any dates especially during popular periods and months.
3) BEFORE BOARDING:
- Please ensure that you apply frontline or any other anti-tick/flea medication on your dogs/pups before dropping them off. We often have back to back bookings and wouldn't want fleas or ticks to be transmitted onto other dogs.
- Please shower your dog(s) before bringing them over. We do not provide baths. If your dog is boarding for more than 2 weeks, additional charge will apply for baths.
- We walk your dogs two to three times a day (morning, evenings, and at night before we sleep).
- Please remember to bring along their food, treats, bowls, toys, mat and other items that they regularly use. - Please also inform us of your dog's allergies (if any) and what they can or cannot consume.
- Updates of photos and videos will be provided via WhatsApp in the evenings as we would want you to have a peace of mind while away. If you require more frequent updates and at a different time, please share this with me during meet & greets so we can discuss what could work and manage expectations accordingly :)
4) DROP OFF/PICK UP TIMINGS: Timings can be discussed during our meet and greet session. No late drop offs and pick ups (after 8pm). If you require late drop off or pick up, please let me know in advance and we can plan accordingly.
5) We do not accept dogs that are solely pee-pad trained.

It was our first time boarding with Saranya as our usual go-to were not available. She is a pleasant lady and we had great impression of her for the times that we met briefly. She was very friendly to our puppy and did not mind even though our puppy is easily overly excited and friendly and jump on people to greet them. However, if your styles are similar to us whereby you hope to receive frequent updates of the dogs, then this might not be a suitable dog boarding option for you. We were used to boarding options that proactively provide frequent updates (images and videos of her) and to us that is very important because it gives us a peace of mind especially if it’s our first time boarding her. However, saranya updates were very little and she would only give when we asked about the pup. She did give reassurance that the pup is well (still no photos until evening time) when we brought this topic up but given that it was first time boarding with her, we would have appreciated more proactive updates.
RESPONSE FROM SITTER:
Hi Timothy. It is not surprising that you left such a review but it is disappointing that you did not explain the whole truth and situation.
During our meet & greet, I asked your wife and you to share more about your dog and her schedule. Your wife assured me that she will send detailed instructions on GoogleDocs prior to the boarding however, this was not the case. She only sent it across to me via WhatsApp on the day of the boarding while you both were on the way to drop off your dog. Her list of instructions and demands were vast and I was very surprised by some of them.
I was asked to:
a) Take and send photos of all your dog’s poops.
b) Update you both morning, afternoon and evening (you even offered to pay me cash for this - something Pawshake does not allow. I kindly declined.)
c) Take photos and videos of your dog eating all her meals and send you photos of her empty bowls after.
d) Take photos and videos of your dog during her walks.
If such expectations were communicated to me explicitly during our meet & greet, I most certainly would not have accepted the booking as I could not have met them.
I explained to both of you that I do not bring my phone during walks due to safety reasons because I don’t want to be in situations where I lose focus of your dog while taking photos. Your pomsky is very strong, pulls very hard and doesn’t walk well on leash. You both agreed it was a wise decision.
Safety has always been paramount to me.
Both you and your wife also did not disclose to me that your dog poops and pees at home and only during the drop off did you reveal this. Your dog pooped and peed on my floor twice and I highlighted this to you in WhatsApp.
During the meet & greet, I asked you if your dog has boarded before. You said yes but in your review, you wrote “especially if it’s our first time boarding her”.
Furthermore, during the meet & greet and on the day of drop off, I informed you and your wife that I will send updates every evening and both of you accepted this.
I sent you both a total of 21 photos and 2 videos during your boarding which was a 2-night stay. I apologize if this wasn’t sufficient.
Your wife also admitted via WhatsApp that she was the one having separation anxiety from your dog.
Not communicating your expectations clearly to me prior to booking and then reviewing me for not being “proactive” is upsetting. Nonetheless, this experience was definitely a learning point for me.
