About Joann
My family lives in a spacious five-room HDB point block in Ang Mo Kio. I have four kids and they all love animals. They have been regularly exposed to all types of animals since young and they have been trained to be gentle and loving towards them. My eldest son in particular, enjoys giving belly rubs to the dogs, bringing them for evening walks, and playing fetch with them.
We are able to accommodate requests for early or late drop-offs and pick-ups when necessary (within reason, of course). For dogs who need plenty of human company, we have an English-speaking live-in helper who loves dogs and has experience managing them. I am working from home every day (for the foreseeable future) so your dog is guaranteed to get a daily dose of affection and attention.
We have been boarding dogs for more than six years now and we thoroughly enjoy having furry friends at our home. We promise to love and treat your pets like they're our own. We usually only take in one pet at a time. However, if there are any overlaps in bookings especially during peak season, all owners will be consulted first before we proceed with any co-boarding arrangements (max. three dogs of small/medium size and preferably of the same gender). During peak periods (June and Dec school holidays, public holidays, and long weekends), we may charge an additional $20 per day if you need us to board your dog exclusively.
We are also able to provide home visits* and dog walking* services (* for Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, and Thomson areas only). We also welcome little hamsters, terrapins, fishes, and reptiles. A loving and warm temporary home for your pets is guaranteed!
FAQs:
Do you have any pets at home?
We have one medium-sized terrapin living in a tank. We do not own a dog.
Where are you situated?
We live in the heart of Ang Mo Kio, a seven-minute walk from the MRT station. Ours is an old-school HDB point block (1,270 sqft), which means there's plenty of space inside the house for your pet to run around. There is a jogging track and garden just below our block and we usually bring the dogs there for their daily walks. We are also near the park (next to AMK MRT), Bishan/AMK Park (short drive away), and established vets and pet shops within our vicinity.
What type of environment will my dog be living in?
Our home is a mid-floor unit. It is usually very breezy and quiet (away from the main road). It is a cage-free environment and your dog will be free to roam around our living spaces. Your dog is able to sleep anywhere in the main living areas of the house.
Will we get daily updates during their stay?
Yes, definitely! We will send you daily updates (once a day), sharing photos, videos or simply describing how your pet has been during his/her stay with us.
What are the check-in and check-out timings?
We are flexible with check-in and check-out timings. Just let us know your preference in advance and we will work out something comfortable for everyone.
Do you provide pick-up and drop-off services?
This service is available on request. It is dependent on our availability and transport charges will apply.
What other services do you provide?
Daily walks, belly rubs, regular playtime, and lots of love are included in the Pawradise boarding experience.
Anything else I (the dog owner) need to note?
Your dog should be toilet-trained (grass/pee-pad). We will try our best to give maximum care and attention to your dog, but he/she should be able to stay at home alone for at least 3-4 hours at a stretch, when needed. Any of your dog's medical conditions or aggressive behaviours MUST be shared with us (we have four children under 12 at home). Other special arrangements such as home-cooking for your pets, administering medicine, keeping the aircon on, grooming drop-off / pick-up, etc, can be discussed and these may be charged additionally.
Once the boarding is confirmed, I will send you a packing list so you know what to bring for the stay. Edible items like food and treats must be provided by the dog owner to minimise any risk of allergies or stomach upset. All dogs must be clean and groomed prior to boarding (especially for long-stay dogs).
Are there any dogs you will not board?
We are unable to take in dogs with ticks or fleas, lack proper vaccinations, or have any signs of aggression towards humans. We are also unable to take in dogs who are excessive barkers, are not potty-trained and can't be left at home unsupervised. We usually wipe the dog's paws and private areas after each walk so the dog must allow us to do so as well.
I'm keen to board my dog at your place. What's the next step?
All owners and dogs must come to my place for an informal meet & greet session. The meet & greet typically lasts 15-30 minutes. We will discuss the dog's requirements during the session and assess if both parties are comfortable to proceed with the boarding. For dogs that board for more than two weeks, we may request that they come for a free four-hour daycare session for us to assess the dog's suitability before confirmation.
