About Melissa

You have dog lovers, and then you have dog lovers.

Met someone who runs across the road just to say hi to your dog & forgets about greeting you? That's me. My love for dogs, big or small, is something my family and friends will happily tell you borders on an obsession (and honestly, any furry animal).

We've always had dogs at home and I've grown up around animals of all kinds, including hamsters and fish. Today, our 4-legged fun officer is Hashbrown, our 3-year-old long-haired corgi whom we adopted.

I specialise in providing personalised pet sitting and daycare in the comfort of your pet's own home, where they're happiest and can stick to their familiar routine.

One thing that sets my care apart is the amount of quality time your pet gets to spend with me. As I work from home freelancing and consulting, your pet will have company for the vast majority of the day. My standard house sitting includes only brief absences – typically to pick up a meal or run a quick errand – so they can continue enjoying companionship and their usual routine for most of the day.

If your pet requires continuous supervision and cannot be left alone at all, please let me know before booking so we can discuss the level of care they'll need and whether my Dedicated Care service would be the best fit. Every pet is different, and I believe in tailoring my care to their individual needs so they receive the attention, companionship, and support they deserve.

I follow routines closely and am comfortable with feeding schedules, walks, medication timing, and any specific care instructions. Safety, consistency, and calm handling are always my priority.

Over the years, I've developed a particular soft spot for senior pets. Until he passed in 2024 at 15.5 years old, I was the primary caregiver for our golden retriever, Junior, throughout his senior years. Caring for an ageing dog taught me patience, attentiveness, and how to adapt fully to changing physical and emotional needs as dogs get older.

Through that experience, I learned how to administer medication on schedule, provide basic wound care, manage mobility issues, and support the day-to-day needs that come with senior pets. I understand the importance of gentleness, routine, and consistency, and I'm very comfortable caring for older dogs who need a slower, more attentive pace.

I also have experience with dogs who struggle with separation anxiety, as well as those who are timid, shy, or skittish around new people. I take things at the dog's pace and focus on building trust so they feel safe and settled while you're away.

Although I care for dogs more frequently, I'm also experienced in looking after cats and genuinely enjoy spending time with them. I understand that cats have very different personalities and needs from dogs, and I'm comfortable adapting to their quieter, more independent nature. Whether your pet is energetic and social or prefers their own space, I'll always tailor my care to suit them.

Animals have always been at the heart of my daily life. We go on regular walks at the Botanic Gardens, beach trips when appropriate, and spend time around other friendly dogs that visit or stay over. It's a calm, social, and dog-friendly environment.

My favourite part of walking is meeting new dogs in the neighbourhood. It genuinely makes every walk more fun and helps build a friendlier community for the dogs as well.

Whether it's keeping your senior dog company, caring for an energetic puppy, supporting a pet with separation anxiety, or simply making sure your cat has a familiar face while you're away, I'd be honoured to care for them as if they were my own.

As every pet is unique, I require a meet & greet before confirming any booking. It's a great opportunity for us to get to know one another, for your pet to become comfortable with me, and for us to go through their routine, preferences, and any special care requirements. My priority is making sure everyone, especially your furry family member, feels happy, safe, and confident from the very beginning.

Drop me a message if this feels like a good fit. I'd love to meet you and take care of your pup or kitty.

♥️ Mel

(Psst, would recommend booking your sitter as soon as possible as the festive period is coming up and slots are limited!)

Dedicated Care Service

Some pets require constant supervision and cannot be left alone due to separation anxiety, medical needs, or other special circumstances. For these bookings, I remain with your pet throughout the agreed care period and do not leave them unattended.

As dedicated care significantly limits my ability to leave the home, attend to personal errands, or take breaks, an additional dedicated care surcharge may apply depending on your pet's individual needs. A food delivery allowance also applies to cover the cost of meals delivered during the booking, as I am unable to leave the home to purchase food.

Please let me know about your pet's routine and level of supervision required before booking so we can determine whether dedicated care is appropriate.

1. Dog/Cat walking
($40 per visit, +$30 for additional furry)

A 30 minute session which includes pick up, drop off & paw cleaning but should they prefer to be strolling for longer, additional charges apply depending on their needs.

If long walks are not their thing, we can shorten the walk timings & the remainder of it will be spent playing with them.

After the walk, I can help with these if needed:
- Quick clean of paws & belly area
- Re-freshing waterbowls
- Feeding pre-prepped food
- Administering oral meds

2. Home visits
($45 per visit, +$10 for additional furry, +$15 for each hour after)

Once or twice a day, with each visit ranging from 30 – 60 minutes depending on their needs.

Includes:
- Tending to 1 furry, $10 per additional friend
- Feeds inclusive of meal prep if that’s part of their dietary routine
- Administering oral meds
- Re-freshing waterbowls
- Cleaning of pee pads / trays, litter boxes & replenishing litter
- Monitoring bowel movements if needed
- Cleaning up furries & their accidents
- Playtime!

For dog owners:
- 5 minute quick pee break if needed (this is not a full walk or stroll, just a quick relief to tide them between their last potty break & when you get back.)
- If you require them to take a proper walk, we can discuss based on needs

3. House sitting
($120 overnight stay, 24 hours. Only for certain areas. +$60 for additional furry)

Your furry & I will be bedtime buddies for the duration of which I will be staying at your home. I will be with them throughout the day with the exception of meal or errand times, no longer than 2 hours each time. If your furry has separation anxiety, we can discuss options & to see how best to have them at ease.

Start timing is flexible but is on a 24 hour cycle ie: start at 8am, ends at 8am the day after. Additional $15 per hour thereafter.

Includes:
- 2 x 30 - 45 mins walks, do let me know if they require more/longer walks
- Feeds inclusive of meal prep if that’s part of their dietary routine
- Administering oral meds
- Ensuring constant access to fresh water
- Cleaning of pee pads / trays, litter boxes & replenishing litter
- Monitoring bowel movements if needed
