I currently live under the supervision of two cats, three budgies and one lovebird, so I’m very familiar with the realities of living with animals: feeding schedules, litter duty, cage cleaning, random bursts of chaos, and being judged silently from across the room for reasons I may never understand.

A typical visit lasts around 20 to 30 minutes, during which I’m happy to handle the essentials: feeding, fresh water, litter or cage cleaning, playtime, and keeping their space tidy. I’ll always follow your pet’s usual routine and any specific instructions you leave for me. I also have experience giving oral medication to my own cats and am comfortable doing so when clear instructions are provided.

I’m very respectful of an animal’s boundaries and personality. If your cat wants cuddles, brilliant. If they prefer to observe me suspiciously from beneath the sofa for 20 minutes, also brilliant. If your bird decides I’m suspicious until proven otherwise, I can work with that too. I won’t force interaction and will let them decide when they’re comfortable with me.

My availability can vary, but I’ll always confirm timings with you beforehand and make sure we’re clear on your pet’s routine and needs before the first visit.

Your home gets the same respect as your pets. I’ll keep keys secure, follow your instructions for locking up, and make sure doors, windows and pet enclosures are properly secured before I leave.

And yes, you’ll get photos and updates while you’re away. Probably accompanied by important reports such as, “Dinner consumed. Litter box inspected. Bird has screamed at me. Everyone appears satisfied.”

Basically, I’ll look after your pets the way I’d want someone to look after mine: patiently, carefully, affectionately, and with full acknowledgement that I am merely staff.
