About David
Hello there! I am David. I live with my family of 3, my mother and my sister, in a moderate 4-room HDB flat around Paya Lebar.
The 3 of us absolutely adore pets, of all shapes and sizes. My sister loves cats; she favours them as she feels she can relate to them. She especially likes when they lie on your lap and purr gently, after slowly blinking their eyes at you, allowing you to stroke their feline fur. I, on the other hand, am more of a "dog-person"; I cherish the energetic and loyal nature of dogs. I always try to find time to play with man's best friend with a wide variety of toys and treats. My mother, however, prefers rabbits. She finds them highly cute when they nibble on tiny pieces of carrots and hop around comically. Since they are usually confined in a cage, it also gives her a sense of comfort knowing they cannot go missing. As you can see, we are a family that accommodates different types of pets.
When I was younger, I had my first experience with a grey schnauzer as a pet. She belonged to someone my mother knew, and I remember meeting her every now and then before moving house. It was these first few times that I had come into contact with an animal as a companion. I played with her using a squeaky donut toy available then; she gave me quite a blast of a time every single moment with her. Ever since then, I developed a burning passion to take care of a pet. I have plans to get my own pet once it becomes more feasible, a corgi. But before that, and with the knowledge that some –not all– pet owners tend to be neglectful or, more rarely, downright abusive, I figured I could assist some of them with taking care of their pets, ensuring they get the diligent and benevolent attention they rightfully deserve.
As seen by the pictures I have on my profile, I did get chances, albeit a few, to interact with multiple dogs that belonged to people I know. The experience has enriched my knowledge of dogs. They each had differing needs and personalities, and I had to learn how to shape myself to best approach them without coming across as domineering nor unfriendly. It took a while, but after repeated attempts, the dogs eventually warmed up to me, and we could play together perfectly fine afterwards. Given time, I believe this wall of images will increase, and maybe with the opportunity and your permission, your pet could appear here as well!
On the services that my family and I provide for pets: Currently I can only care for small to medium pets at my house. It could be for a day or multiple days. At my house, there are toys for your pet to play with, as well as a bed and bowls for food and water. Right now, I only have pet food for dogs, but I could get some for other pets if needed. For dogs, I can bring them out to walk around my neighbourhood and take care of their litter. For the dog walks, it will take place typically in the afternoon and once a day, and will last about 45 mins; however for younger dogs, like puppies, only 15 mins (So as to not hurt their joints). I am not trained to administer medicine, and also have little experience training pets, though I can groom your pet for you. Due to the limited size of my HDB house, I can only board up to 2-5 pets at a time, depending on their size and behaviour.
On the time I can spend with pets: My family and I take turns to take care of pets. My mother will take care of the pet in the morning, then it will be my turn in the afternoon after I come back from school and my mother leaves for work, and lastly, my sister and I will be tending to it at night as we are both free. This way, the pet will never be left alone for more than 3 hours. Of course, in cases of emergencies, we will contact you and inform you that we have to go out, and inquire whether you allow your pet to accompany us. From Monday to Friday, we are free only for dog boarding. On the weekends, we are free for both dog boarding and doggy daycare. We say dog but are open to other pets as well. We are available for the specified service everyday of the week.
More on my house, we live in a 4-room HDB flat at Sri Geylang Serai, S404002. I live with my mother and sister. We have an area where pets can live. We own a pet bed and toys that can be used by pets. We have no backyard. In our house. We have a sturdy fence that blocks the pet from entering the kitchen and hallway, and built-in gate to prevent dogs from exiting the house while the main door is opened.
Unfortunately, due to the current situation of COVID-19, greater caution needs to be exercised. Despite the fact that there are no known studies to prove significant cross-species transmission of COVID-19 between pet and owner, we cannot take any risks; this is to protect everyone, even the pets. We regretfully cannot take in pets that belong to people suffering from COVID-19 or related symptoms, nor if the pet is unvaccinated according to the Singapore Veterinary Association (SVA).
If you made it here, thank you for taking the time to read all of this introductory description about my family and I. I hope you know us better after this short read, and we wish to see your pet soon!
