About Janice
Please note that I accept dogs up to only 25kg as this is the weight I can realistically carry in the unlikely event of an emergency.
Hello I'm Janice! I am a full-time pet sitter with a soft spot for dogs who are sensitive, anxious, or reactive and Singapore Specials! I offer services for dogs, cats, and fish!
My interest in pet sitting started while studying clicker training at Karen Pryor Academy. It was my introduction to positive reinforcement training and more current information on dog behaviour, which made me realise how beneficial it is for our pups to have company and enrichment while their humans are out for long hours.
There are some dogs who may not be comfortable with a daycare environment (like my own who was dog reactive), so having a person go to them in an environment they are familiar with is a great alternative!
My priorities when conducting Enrichment and Basic Care Visits are:
- For your dog to have a fun and engaging experience
- For your dog to be both physically safe and feel safe
- For you to be able to go about your day assured that your dog is enjoying theirs!
Experience
My interest in dogs and animal behaviour started young, from living with dogs and watching animal documentaries as a child, to jumping at the chance to volunteer at an animal shelter when I was 13.
Since then, I have volunteered at both dog and cat shelters helping out with a range of activities including walks, showers and training.
I am also a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, having graduated from the Dog Trainer Professional certification program with a distinction, and a Certified Canine First Responder.
I have assisted in both private and group classes conducted by other KPA-CTPs, am familiar with BAT for reactive dogs, and have continued my education by:
- Taking various courses and webinars ranging from topics such as senior dog enrichment, management for reactive dogs and dog massage (and more!)
- Attending talks by vets and vet techs on pet health
- Taking a Health and Sanitation course for pet-sitting businesses by Pet Sitters International
For cats, while I am not as experienced with them as I am with dogs, I follow the same principles of respecting their space, listening to their body language and engaging them in their preferred ways. I am not able to handle reactive cats however and am able to only do the basics!
For fish, I have worked at a wild betta specialty shop and kept many kinds of freshwater fish including dwarf cichlids, bettas, a flowerhorn (he was clicker trained too), plecos, corydoras and more! I have experience feeding them a variety of different types of foods, so am comfortable with feeding foods other than pellets!
Services
For dogs I offer all services.
For fish I offer Drop-ins.
Free Meet & Greet for all services!
Drop-ins and House Sitting are available in Sengkang and Punggol. They may be available in other locations, as long as they are within 30min of my home in Sengkang.
The other services are available in many locations! A travel fee of $8-$15 may apply to locations more than 30min from my home in Sengkang.
For dogs, only House Sitting and Day Sitting are suitable for overseas trips with no one else home.
🌟Dog Walking is best for dogs who:
- Are reactive and benefit from walks at off-peak times
- Enjoy a good sniffy walk
- Need a potty break
🌟 Drop-ins are best for pets requiring a quick visit to take care of basic needs like feeding and clearing pee pads
🌟 Home Visits are best for pawrents who want additional enrichment for their dog and support with care tasks! Some common reasons may be:
- Travelling and have someone home with their dog at night (e.g. friend, family member, helper, another pet sitter)
- Working long hours
- Having a dog with many care needs and would like additional support. Been here as a pawrent while my dog Buddy was a senior and required multiple pain management modalities on top of his usual activities and care. I understand that things can sometimes get busy!
🌟 House Sitting is best for dogs whose pawrents will be travelling and need someone to stay overnight + check in on their dog during the day, available for trips of up to 5 nights
Please read the Important Notes at the end of this section!

While I am new to house sitting, I have plenty of experience with longer visits of 5-10h with clients being overseas (but having family/a friend home at night). Living with a "demanding" (said with love) senior dog who was particular about having his teeth brushed before bed by 10pm, I understand the importance of keeping up with your dog's routine too!
Please note that a trial Home Visit without you present is required before the house sit to ensure that your dog is comfortable being alone with me!
Important Notes
*For the safety and welfare of all pets (including yours!) I see, I only accept pets who are fully vaccinated and up to date on appropriate parasite prevention.
*The prices stated are for households with up to 2 dogs.
*I am not a veterinary professional, any and all medications and treatments will be done strictly according to pawrent's instructions. If I notice anything unusual, will inform you and follow your instructions on what to do.
*These are not training services. These services can be helpful in supporting training, but if you want to work with your dog on a particular behaviour or behaviour modification, please look for a Force-Free/Fear-Free/R+ training service. I am happy to provide recommendations!
*While this may not be the smartest business decision, I do advise my clients to have more than one pet sitter who you trust to leave your pet with.
This is so that in the event you urgently need a sitter but I am not available, you do not have to scramble to find someone while you are already dealing with a potentially stressful situation and your pet will not have to have a stranger come into their home out of the blue. This is just something I would personally do, so I recommend it to clients in case it can help them too!
For walks, please take note:
- Please provide the leash, treats, harness, water bottle and any other equipment your dog may need.- I am most comfortable walking dogs on harnesses for safety reasons, but flat collars or slip leashes may be accepted in rare cases where certain criteria are met.
- For owners with reactive dogs, please let me know what timings and areas are quieter and have less triggers! I will accommodate as best as I can.
- During walks, my focus is on providing dogs safe access to sensory and environmental enrichment. Interactions with strangers, other dogs, and other animals will be avoided.
- I will only walk one dog at a time for dog welfare and safety reasons. Walks are a time for exploration, enrichment and exercise. Let's let the dog have the freedom to explore and interact with the outside world without being held back or having to split the time with another dog!
