About Janice
Please note that I accept dogs only up to 30kg!
For weekly walks/visits, I currently have Mon morning, Tues morning/evening, Fri morning/afternoon/evening slots available!
Hello I'm Janice! I am a pet sitter with a soft spot for dogs who are sensitive, anxious, or reactive, and Singapore Specials!
My interest in pet sitting started while studying dog training at Karen Pryor Academy. It was my introduction to positive reinforcement training and more up-to-date information on dog behaviour, which made me realise how beneficial it is for our pups to have company and enrichment while their humans are out for long hours.
My reasons for choosing to offer enrichment visits and walks for dogs:
- My own dog (Buddy) was dog reactive and sensitive to handling. There are dogs out there like him who may not be comfortable in a daycare environment, so having a person go to them in a familiar environment is a great alternative!
- I really enjoy offering personalised care! I love learning and catering to each pet's unique needs, preferences and quirks, setting up a routine for our visits in a way that works best for them!
- I have been where many pet parents have been. Whether it's working long hours, travelling and having family home to care for your dog's basic needs but wanting more, or having a pet with many care needs where additional support can be helpful, I understand how nerve-wracking it can be to find someone you can trust with your dog! It is important to me that I provide my services in a way that gives pet parents a sense of safety and security too!
My priorities are:
- For your dog to have a fun experience
- For your dog to be both physically safe and be able to feel safe
- For you to be able to go about your day assured that your dog is enjoying theirs!
Experience
- Volunteer at both dog and cat shelters helping out with activities including walks, showers and training since 2015
- Worked at a daycare before realising I prefer offering more personalised care
- I am a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, having graduated with a distinction from the Dog Trainer Professional certification program. The way I train is by always working at a pace the dog is comfortable with, focusing on positive associations or neutrality (depending on what is best for the situation), and encouraging good choices through positive reinforcement!
- Assisted in group and private classes by other KPA-CTPs
- I am a Certified Canine Responder (first aid and CPR), certified by Dog First Aid
- Have been doing home enrichment visits and walks since 2020
Believing that continuing education is important in any industry, I have continued my education by taking various courses, webinars, and attending talks ranging from topics such as:
- Senior dog enrichment
- Management for reactive dogs
- Dog massage
- Health and sanitation for pet sitting businesses
- Talks by veterinary professionals on pet health
- And more!
For cats, while I am not as experienced with them as I am with dogs, I follow the same principles of respecting their space, listening to their body language and engaging them in their preferred ways!
I am not able to handle reactive cats however and am able to only do the basics of feeding, cleaning litter and play (and maybe a little bit of trick training for fun and mental stimulation)!
For fish, I have worked at a wild betta specialty shop and kept many kinds of freshwater fish including dwarf cichlids, bettas, a flowerhorn (he was clicker trained too 🤣), eels, plecos, corydoras and more! I have experience feeding them a variety of different types of foods, so am comfortable with preparing and feeding foods other than pellets!

House Sitting
🌟 best for dogs whose pawrents will be travelling and need someone to stay overnight + check in on their dog during the day. Having lived with a "demanding" (said with love) senior dog who was particular about having his teeth brushed before bed by 10pm, I understand the importance of keeping up with your dog's routine too!
Available daily in areas up to 30min from my home in Sengkang.
During the day, dogs should be comfortable being alone for up to 6h a time. They will not be left alone for more than 6h at a time! Overnight I will be there with them the entire time.
House Sitting will be from 5pm on the first day to 1pm on the last day. If you need me to come earlier than 5pm on the first day or stay later than 1pm on the last day, please let me when booking to check for availability! Fees will be pro-rated accordingly.
$120/night
Please note that a trial Home Visit without you present is required before the house sit to ensure that your dog is comfortable being alone with me!

Important Notes
*For the safety and welfare of all pets I see (including yours!), I only accept pets who are fully vaccinated and up to date on appropriate parasite prevention.
*The prices stated are for households with up to 2 dogs.
*I am not a veterinary professional, any and all medications and treatments will be done strictly according to pawrent's instructions. If I notice anything unusual, I will inform you and follow your instructions on what to do.
*These are not training services. These services can be helpful in supporting training, but if you want to work with your dog on a particular behaviour or on behaviour modification, please look for a Force-Free/Fear-Free/R+ training service. I am happy to provide recommendations!
*A free Meet and Greet is available for all new clients. The Meet and Greet is to further assess if I am the right sitter for your dog and most importantly, to ensure that both you and your dog are comfortable with me before proceeding with any visits! I am unable to accept last minute requests for new clients because of this. I believe this step is important for the comfort of both dog and owner!
*While this may not be the smartest business decision, I do advise my clients to have more than one pet sitter who you trust to leave your pet with.
This is so that in the event you urgently need a sitter but I am not available, you do not have to scramble to find someone while dealing with a potentially stressful situation and your pet will not have a stranger come into their home out of the blue. This is just something I would personally do, so I recommend it to clients in case it can help them too!
For walks, please take note:
- Please provide the leash, harness, treats, water bottle and any other equipment your dog may need.- For safety reasons I am most comfortable walking dogs on harnesses. Flat collars or slip leashes may be suitable in some cases.
- For owners with reactive dogs, please let me know what timings and areas are quieter and have less triggers! I will accommodate as best as I can.
- During walks, my focus is on providing your dog with safe access to environmental enrichment. Interactions with strangers, other dogs, and other animals are avoided.
- The focus of my walks are generally on enrichment, giving them the opportunity to explore and sniff to their heart's content. For this and safety reasons, I generally walk only one dog at a time. This way your dog will be able to choose the walk pace comfortable for them, sniff a particularly interesting blade of grass for however long they want to, and choose where they want to go (as long as it's safe)!
