About Smita

I am a fellow dog parent who understands how important it is to find someone patient, reliable, and gentle to care for your pet. I have a young Sheltie of my own, so I know how much attention, routine, and reassurance dogs need to feel safe and comfortable.

This is my second Sheltie with the first one living up to 16 years old, having passed away 4 years ago. I looked after my first Sheltie well into his final years. I took him to his weekly accupuncture and hydrotherapy sessions, administered medication, syringe-fed him daily, flipped him from side to side every four hours, expressed his bladder, and so on.

And now I have a second Sheltie whom I've been raising since he was 4 months old. His early days were chaotic with bloody stools and giarda but he has since recovered with careful curation of a low-fat diet.

I take my Sheltie down twice a day for at least an hour each time. He gets regular playtime at the dog run with his friends. He gets his paws washed after each walk. His bedtime routine includes a wipe down, fur brushing, and teeth brushing. I shower him down and clean his ears once a week.

In times of emergency, which I have experienced once, I noticed he was limp and lethargic. He didn't move for water either. I rushed him to the emergency vet within 20 minutes of finding him that way. Fortunately, there was nothing majorly amiss with him except he had too much fun in the day.

My motivation for pet sitting comes from my love for animals and my own experience caring for a dog day to day — from walks and playtime to feeding routines, basic training, toilet breaks, and quiet companionship. I understand that every dog has a different personality, energy level, and comfort zone, so I will always take time to follow your instructions and care for your pet in a way that suits them best.

I can help with dog walking, drop-in visits, feeding, playtime, and keeping your pet company while you are away. My approach is calm, attentive, and responsible, with a focus on making sure your dog feels cared for and your mind feels at ease.
