About Melissa
🐾🐾 My Pet-Sitting Experience
• NYC dog-sitting experience: During my time as a student in New York, I dog-sat and walked a wide range of breeds — from tiny Maltese to enthusiastic Boxers who were obsessed with chasing squirrels in Central Park. Yes, I survived the occasional tree collision! 😂
• Singapore home-sitting experience: Since starting pet sitting in Singapore, I have cared for dogs and cats in their own homes, adapting to different personalities, routines and household environments.
• Multi-pet experience: Successfully cared for a dog and cat simultaneously during a home-stay booking, ensuring both received individual attention and appropriate routines. This booking received a 5-star review from the owner.
• Repeat-client experience: I have also had returning clients who trusted me to care for their pets again after previous stays.
• Medication & special care: Through my pet-sitting experience, I have learned to administer a range of routine oral medications, supplements and other treatments according to owners’ instructions.
• Veterinary runs: I have experience recognising when a pet’s condition required veterinary attention, arranging and accompanying pets for veterinary visits.
• Adaptable & observant: Every pet is different. I take the time to understand their usual behaviour, routines, eating habits and preferences so that I can notice when something seems unusual.
🏡 Home-Stay Care — Your Pet Stays Home
I provide home-stay care exclusively at the pet owner’s home, so your pet can remain in the environment they know and love rather than being moved to an unfamiliar boarding facility.
• Familiar surroundings and routine
• One-on-one attention
• Less disruption and stress
• I work from home for much of the stay, while maintaining my normal work and personal commitments
My aim is to provide attentive care while allowing your pet to continue their normal routine in their own home.
📸 Daily Updates
• Photos and videos throughout the stay
• Optional video calls with your pet
• Regular updates so you know how your fur baby is doing while you’re away
🚶 Enrichment & Outings
For suitable dogs, I’m happy to provide more than just basic walks.
• Regular walks and quality time
• Optional outings to places such as the Botanic Gardens or Marina Barrage
• Any transport, admission or other outing expenses are covered by the owner
• Outings are subject to the pet’s temperament, health, weather and suitability
I want your pet to have a happy, enriching stay, while also having enough time and energy to give them quality attention.
🧾 Expectations & Fit
I am best suited for:
• Calm, well-adjusted pets
• Pets comfortable being left alone for reasonable periods
• Pets with established and manageable routines
• Pawrents who value clear communication and mutual respect
I am not a 24/7 awake-care service and am not suited to pets requiring constant supervision.
😴 Rest & Sleep
I require normal rest and sleep hours. While I am attentive and present, I cannot provide 24/7 awake supervision or overnight nursing care.
💻 Work & Personal Time
House sitting means I stay in and work from the home for much of the time, but it does not mean I am confined indoors around the clock.
I may step out for meals, errands, work commitments or personal activities. My regular work and personal commitments will continue during the booking.
🩺 Health, Mobility & Special Care Requirements
Please be transparent about your pet’s health and care requirements before booking.
This includes:
• Existing medical conditions
• Mobility difficulties or inability to stand/walk independently
• Incontinence
• Feeding or drinking difficulties
• Frequent vomiting or diarrhoea
• Significant behavioural or anxiety issues
• Multiple medications or treatments
• Frequent lifting or repositioning
• Any condition requiring constant supervision or intensive nursing care
Bookings are accepted based on the pet’s health, mobility and care requirements disclosed at the time of confirmation.
If a pet’s condition materially changes during a stay and the level of care required goes beyond what I can safely provide, I reserve the right to request that appropriate professional or veterinary care be arranged.
👥 Single-Person Care Only
I provide one-person pet care.
If your pet requires two or more people to lift, move, restrain or manage them safely, I am not the appropriate sitter for the booking.
💊 Medication & Special Care Add-ons
Routine medication can be accommodated where the medication and administration instructions are discussed and agreed upon in advance.
• Routine medication: +$10/day
• Multiple medications / more involved medication schedules: +$20/day
• Eye drops, topical treatments or other additional care may incur a further charge depending on complexity.
Medication charges cover medication administration only.
They do not include intensive nursing, frequent lifting, repositioning, hand-feeding, toileting assistance, constant medical supervision or other hospital-level care.
Complex or intensive care requirements will be assessed separately and may be outside the scope of my services.
🐕 Additional Care Surcharges
• Additional pet: +$20/night
• Large dog: +$30/night
• Puppy: +$15/night
• Complex medication/special care: +$10/day onwards, depending on requirements
• Intensive care requirements: quoted separately or I may just decline the booking
All additional charges will be discussed and agreed upon before confirmation.
🏥 Vet & Hospital Visits
If your pet requires a routine veterinary appointment during my stay, I am happy to assist where my availability and the pet’s condition allow.
• Vet/hospital transport: from $40 per trip
• Extended waiting time: $25/hour after the first hour
• Emergency visits, hospital admission/discharge or lengthy appointments may be quoted separately depending on distance, duration and the level of assistance required.
• Veterinary fees, transport fares and other third-party expenses are payable by the owner.
I am not equipped to physically transport or manage pets who cannot walk or support their own weight. Where multiple people are required to move a pet safely, professional veterinary assistance or appropriate transport must be arranged by the owner.
🚗 Travel Fee
A $100 travel fee applies for each block of up to 4 days of house sitting.
• 1–4 days: $100
• 5–8 days: $200
• 9–12 days: $300
• 13–16 days: $400
This covers the commuting time and transport involved in travelling to and from the booking.
🧳 Arrival & Departure
Arrival and departure times will be mutually agreed upon before confirmation.
Arrival
• Overnight bookings typically begin in the late afternoon/evening.
• Morning arrivals may incur an additional half-day charge.
• Urgent same-day arrangements are subject to availability and the applicable last-minute surcharge.
Departure
• Departure timing will be mutually agreed upon before confirmation.
• Late-night departures may require booking that night.
• If your return is delayed and additional care is required, additional charges will apply.
📹 Home Surveillance
I understand that many pawrents use cameras to keep an eye on their pets. For everyone’s comfort and privacy:
• Cameras in one common area are acceptable if disclosed upfront.
• Continuous audio recording of living spaces during overnight stays is not permitted.
• Devices with two-way audio or treat-dispensing functions are acceptable if disclosed upfront, but must remain in common areas and must not face the guest bedroom or private spaces.
• In smaller homes where there is no reasonable private space away from surveillance, I may decline the booking.
Mutual trust and respect are important to me, and I value a comfortable environment for both the pet and the sitter.
🏡 Professional Pet Care — Not Domestic Help
Pet sitting is a professional pet-care service, not domestic staffing.
My role includes caring for your pet, companionship, feeding, walks, agreed routine medication/treatments and general supervision.
Household cleaning, laundry, cooking, gardening, errands or other unrelated domestic tasks are not included in my pet-sitting service.
I am happy to keep the areas used by your pet reasonably tidy, but I am not a maid or domestic helper, and pet-sitting bookings should not be treated as a substitute for domestic help.
📅 Meet & Greet / Reservation Policy
⏳ Reserved Professional Time
Pet sitting involves reserving dedicated dates, travel and responsibility around your pet’s care. As such, meet-and-greets and confirmed bookings are treated as professional service arrangements, not casual standby availability.
🤝 Meet & Greet Fee
• A $35 consultation/travel fee applies to in-person meet-and-greets prior to confirmation.
• If the booking proceeds, the $35 will be deducted from the final booking total.
• If the booking does not proceed, the fee covers the time, travel and scheduling reserved for the consultation.
🔒 Booking Commitment
• Dates are only secured once both parties have confirmed the booking.
• Cancellations or significant changes after confirmation may incur charges, particularly where dates have been reserved and other enquiries declined.
• Bookings confirmed within 48 hours of the start date incur a $100 last-minute surcharge.
⏰ Short-Notice Enquiries
Urgent bookings are welcome where availability allows. However, dates, rates, care requirements and expectations must be agreed upon before arranging a meet-and-greet.
I appreciate timely communication so that both parties can make appropriate arrangements.
❤️ My Approach
I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and providing them with companionship, attention and a sense of routine while their pawrents are away.
My ideal booking is one where:
🐾 Your pet is happy and comfortable
🏡 Your home remains a familiar environment
💻 I can continue my work and personal commitments
😴 I have adequate time to rest
❤️ And I have the energy to give your pet quality attention and enrichment
Mutual trust and respect are important to me. I want every booking to be a peaceful, enjoyable experience for both the pet and the sitter.
